Preparing to Install OpenLinux from Windows Getting Started Guide 19 FIGURE 2.   Start installation on this menu from the OpenLinux/Windows CD. From this screen, assuming your computer can boot the “Windows Tools & Com- mercial Packages” CD-ROM, you can start the preparation for installing Open- Linux from your Windows system in one of two ways: Install Partition Magic CE: Select this option if your entire hard disk currently uses Windows. This procedure lets you take unused space from your Windows partition and use it to create an OpenLinux partition, using Partition Magic Caldera Edition. It then starts the OpenLinux installation. Launch Linux Install (loadlin): Select this option only if you hard disk already has a Linux partition available for you to install OpenLinux. Once you make this selection, follow the installation procedure in Chapter 3. The next section describes the Install Partition Magic CE installation procedure. For information on creating Installation/Boot diskettes, see “Creating OpenLinux Diskettes in Windows” on page 28. Only use the diskettes if the computer cannot boot from CD. To install the OpenLinux components in Windows: 1. Choose Install Partition Magic CE from the screen shown in Figure 2. The Partition Magic Setup begins, as shown in Figure 3.
